Action Centre reopens it's doors in Melbourne's CBD

Family Planning Victoria’s Action Centre in Melbourne’s CBD has been providing reproductive and sexual health services for over 30 years. Recently it has undergone a major refurbishment and we are excited to announce our re-launch of this fantastic clinic to enable a wider range of services for both clinical care and professional training. Doors will officially re-open on Monday, September 25!

Drop-in’s for 25 and below
We will have a dedicated afternoon drop-in service for under 25’s at the Action Centre. Young people will be able to drop in between 1 and 6pm for their sexual health needs including STI testing and treatment, emergency contraception, unplanned pregnancy choices and more at the convenient Melbourne CBD location.

New services
As part of the relaunch, we will be introducing medication abortion services, dedicated Intrauterine Device (IUD) insertion, cervical screening, contraceptive implant (Implanon NXT ®), vulval health and Sexual Health Physician services.

Continued services
As well as our expanded range of reproductive and sexual health services, our friendly and professional clinic staff will continue to provide usual services at both our Box Hill and Action Centre clinics.  For a full list of services provided at both clinics, please visit Our Clinics page or call us on 03 9257 0100.

Sexual Health Physician – starting October 2017
The Action Centre will now offer a referral based sexual health physician service, specialising in Adolescent Sexual Health, Postpartum Women, and general women's reproductive and sexual health including sexually transmissible infections, contraception, medication termination of pregnancy, cervical screening and vulval health. Find out more about this new service.

Professional training
This major refurbishment has resulted in a ‘state of the art’ training clinic enabling more Victorian doctors and nurses to undertake clinical training placements with experienced FPV reproductive and sexual health clinical educators and will allow for specialist referral into the service from GPs and other health professionals.
An expanded range of services will expose clinical trainees to the full suite of reproductive and sexual health services and improve access to these services for vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorians.

At our youth Action Centre, we run a social support group for same-sex attracted and gender diverse young people. Some group members identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, gender fluid or trans and others are unsure or don't want to label themselves.
We offer a safe place for members to meet in Melbourne's CBD to talk about issues affecting their lives and to just be themselves. We can also refer people to relevant support groups in their area.

Schools sessions: Accessing health services for Year 9 students
This highly successful school session is set to recommence at the newly refurbished Action Centre. The three branches of FPV’s Education and Training Team (Schools Team, Clinical Education Unit and Community Services Team) have worked collaboratively to design a robust educational program that will focus primarily on a young person’s ability to access services pertaining to their sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. Sessions are designed to target Year 9 students from across the state.

Our friendly and professional clinic staff at the Action Centre look forward to welcoming you at Level 1, 94 Elizabeth street Melbourne.

Look out for our opening hours on Our Clinics page!
