- Interventions to improve the sexual and reproductive health of young people: a systematic review of reviews
In 2016, Sexual Health Victoria commissioned Burnet Institute to conduct a systematic review of reviews, to assess the evidence on existing sexual health interventions targeted at young people aged 10-24 years.
The purpose of the report is to provide a strong evidence base about effective interventions to inform the work of health promotion practitioners across different sectors, including primary health, education, and government.
The systematic review found that successful interventions commonly outlined the following features:- Longer-term and repeated interventions (not single-session);
- Multi-setting (schools, health services, community) and multi-level (e.g. individual, group, structural) interventions;
- Interventions involving parents;
- Culturally, gender and age appropriate/sensitive interventions;
- Interventions incorporating skills building; and
- Multicomponent interventions (e.g. education plus skills building plus condom promotion).

- Improving access to reproductive and sexual health services for young people
Sexual Health Victoria (SHV) developed this Guide as part of our Integrated Health Promotion Plan 2013-17.
The aim of this Guide is to:- Improve reproductive and sexual health (R&SH) care and referral pathways for young people in Victoria.
- Improve the capacity for primary health care providers in Victoria to provide R&SH services and support to young people in Victoria.
The report was informed by literature review, consultations with fifteen representative service providers, and focus groups with thirty-six young people. These groups included Same Sex Attracted & Sex/Gender Diverse (SSASGD) young people, young men, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, and a general youth group.
The Guide was developed in metropolitan Melbourne, with a focus on the North and West Health Region, however it is intended as a state-wide resource.

- Female genital mutilation/ cutting (FGM/C) in Victoria
Sexual Health Victoria was funded by the Department of Health to produce a range of materials to improve health literacy, service access and planning regarding female genital mutilation/ cutting (FGM/C).
