Sexually transmissible infections (STIs) & blood-borne viruses (BBVs) can affect anybody who has any type of sex. However, by having the right information and learning about how these infections are transmitted, everyone can reduce their risk.

Mpox (Monkeypox)

Mpox is closely related to the virus that causes smallpox but is clinically less severe.

Chlamydia

Syphilis

Syphilis can affect anyone who is sexually active.

HIV attacks white blood cells in the immune system and uses these cells to replicate.

Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmissible infections.

HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)

Most people who are sexually active will be infected with at least one type of HPV at some time

Genital Warts

Genital warts are flesh-coloured lumps or growths in the genital area.

Hepatitis A, B, and C

Hepatitis may be caused by alcohol, drugs, toxins or infection with a virus.

Pubic Lice and Genital Scabies

Pubic lice (also sometimes called crabs) are parasite insects that infest the pubic hair.
