Keeping Kids Safe Project
Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) has been successful in securing funding through La Trobe University’s Partners in Prevention of Sexual Violence Project — a national initiative focused on strengthening the evidence base for what works to prevent sexual violence in Australia.
Sexual Health Victoria (SHV) is a proud partner of this initiative and is collaborating with WHISE, Talking the Talk Healthy Sexuality Education, and South East Community Links.

The project is a designed as a free, four-part course, to support parents and caregivers of Year 7 and 8 students. It equips them with the tools to have open, respectful and age-appropriate conversations with their children about consent, gender, sexuality and relationships.
It unpacks key concepts including affirmative consent, gender inequality as a driver of violence, and sex-positive approaches to communication.
Created by a partnership of experts in sexual health, education, gender-based violence prevention and with a culturally responsive lens, this evidence-based program is designed to be practical, inclusive and engaging.
Delivery of the Keeping Kids Safe Project will happen in 2025-2026. La Trobe University evaluation of this and other grant funded sexual violence prevention projects will be available in 2027.
