Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain Education Program

Sexual Health Victoria (SHV), in partnership with the Department of Education, will deliver free Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain Education sessions in Victorian government schools from 2025 to 2027.

SHV has designed a comprehensive Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain program that aligns with the Victorian and Australian Curriculum. The content is tailored to the age and development of the students in corresponding year levels and will be delivered by SHV’s experienced and trained educators. Staff sessions will provide the knowledge and confidence needed to provide age- and developmentally-appropriate responses to students seeking help regarding Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain.

Our school recently participated in the Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain workshop for our Year 5 and 6 students. Following the session, my immediate reflection was: Why was this not available when I was in school? The workshop was exceptionally informative and covered a wide range of essential topics that anyone who will experience menstruation should know and understand. This workshop is invaluable to students, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I strongly encourage schools to make use of this program—particularly given that it is provided at no cost. It is an exceptional resource and an opportunity not to be missed.
