Strategic Partnerships Grant

Upskilling RSE Teachers Working with Migrant and Refugee Communities

Strategic Partnerships Grant Project funded by the Victorian Department of Education.

Sexual Health Victoria (SHV) received funding from the Department of Education, Victoria, through the Strategic Partnerships Program. The funding supported SHV to work with Elevation Secondary College in Melbourne for two years (2024-2025). The project focused on upskilling teachers who are required to teach Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE), as well as working with the larger community to gain more support for delivering RSE at the school. The school has a large migrant and refugee community, and the project aimed to meet the needs of this community in a way that is culturally responsive.

The aims of the project were met through direct delivery to students by SHV staff, teacher training sessions, parent and carer information sessions, and curriculum consultation.

Sexual Health Victoria would like to thank the Department of Education and Elevation Secondary College for their support of this. For more information on the Strategic Partnerships Program, please visit: Partnerships: Department of Education

As part of the project, SHV produced a podcast episode.
